"Best Buddies" picture of the day #1

Gavin and his buddy Wyatt went to the park yesterday and they had a lot of fun together. They like each other, but I have to closely monitor their playdates and occassionally intervene, but they're so fun to watch.

I have decided to start a "picture of the day" tradition to motivate me to take at least one pic everyday.

Fire safety

Last night we attended a fire safety awareness dinner that was very informative, and of course they were selling fire alarm systems. The presenter (from a company called Masterguard) explained the construction of the most common fire alarms (which we currently have in our home) and why they are not effective, and that they fail to work over 55% of the time. Scary! My dad lost a sister in a house fire and a family friend of ours growing up also had a house fire, so I recognize that this can happen to anyone and I especially want to protect my family.

We had a representative from the company come to our house tonight to recommend a system and give us an estimate. The total is over $3500!!! That includes several fire alarms, radon, gas, carbon monoxide, heat dectors, an escape ladder, 3 fire hydrants and a burn kit. The primary cause of house fires is electricity, and the solution is early warning so everyone can evacuate safely, so an excellent fire alarm system makes sense. Of course my family is priceless and I want to protect them all, so I think we're going to try to find an affordable compromise. I would love suggestions and comments on what people do to protect and educate their families about fire.

Megan's many faces

Megan is very opinionated and often I tell what she wants by observing her facial expressions.
Tired
Annoyed
Scared
Happy
Dazed and confused
I love my little girl and thoroughly enjoy watching her cute little personality manifest itself.

Cute new clothes

A good friend of mine is moving in a few months so I have been helping her sort through clothes and things to prepare for a garage sale. She was kind enough to give me some clothes for Gavin and Megan and they both looked so cute I wanted to share a few pictures.
I love this cute hat and the jammies!
Gavin loves spiderman! This outfit (there's a matching shirt and pants) is one size too big, so I meant to hide it for another year, but Gavin found it and he's worn it ever since. Thank you so much for the cute clothes Melissa P!

Horray for Spring???

A few days ago we had beautiful sunny weather! We played outside a lot, and I even started clearing weeds for a garden spot.
Gavin loves to be outside, and he LOVES hot chocolate. Although it was sunny outside, it was still a little cold outside so Gavin came in the house and said, "Mommy I'm chilly. Hot chocolate warm up!" (We're still working on complete sentences). I wasn't done in the potential garden spot, so I made his drink then took it outside for him to enjoy.
The next day we awoke to snow!!!! Crazy weather! I really shouldn't be surprised because this weather is similar to where I grew up, but I'm very anxious for spring. The is much needed though, and our lawn is slowly starting to turn green (I realize the grass looks pretty brown in this pic, but the next day it had more color).

Gavin in disguise

We went to the park yesterday and guess who else was there...spiderman! Actually he was a 4 year old boy dressed in a spiderman costume but both Gavin and the boy were convinced he was the real thing. I love how innocent, believing, and imaginative little children are. Here are a few of Gavin's diguises.

A pj wearin' pirate

A day with twins...kinda

One of my friends had to take a class all day today, so I got to tend her adorable daughter. Kadie is 9 days younger than Megan, and their schedules are very similar, so I felt like I had twin babies today.
Here are the two girls happy and cute as ever!
These sweet princesses don't like to hold their own bottles, so Gavin helped out!
I love having friends who trust me to watch their children, and whom I can trust to watch mine.
