One year ago on May 17th, 2007 we had scheduled a c-section for our little girl to join our family, but she was anxious to come and my water broke one day early. On May 16th, 2007 Megan Laurel Black joined our family weighing in at 6 lbs 15 oz. and 19 inches long. Five weeks previous to her birth, after having an ultrasound, the doctor was concerned that our little girl had Intrauterine Growth Retardation (this occurs when babies stop growing in the uterus and are usually abnormally small) so we immediately drove 4 hours to a larger hospital to get a second opinion. Thanks to a priesthood blessing and technology we learned that everything was okay and Megan was born healthy and happy. She was 1 of 2 caucasian babies in the hospital, but with her dark hair and olive colored skin she fit right in with all the Native American babies. Megan is a joy and we are so blessed to have her in our family.

Gavin instantly fell in love with Megan (just like the rest of us) and I love watching them learn and play together.

We celebrated our princess's first birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Idaho. Aunt Alane gave Megan a crown and doll which she loves.

Of course the best part of the day was the yummy cherry cupcake and ice cream!

Happy late birthday litle Black princess. :)
Cassie, where do you live? Is it Colorado?
I think I still thought you were in Idaho.
I'm glad you posted again. I had worn out the anniversary post. Glad you didn't have to have a c-section with her. Did you have one with Gavin?
Cute pictures! Tell Megan Happy Birthday! Her baby pictures are so adorable. That first year sure goes by fast, doesn't it?
oh..you DID have a c-section with her? I misunderstood.
With Jordan he was posterior for 5 months and then decided to flip right side up. I tried everything I could think of (minus an ECV where they turn the baby manually) to encourage him to turn. My thinking was he's breech for a reason so I'm not going to force him to turn. We tried a chiropracter, acupuncture, music on belly, talking singing, praying, blessings, tilting maneuver. We're pretty sure he turned up...and then turned back. My doctor scheduled the c-section 10 days before he was due. I was furious because I felt that if we gave him time, he would turn and it would all be ok. Then I had decided that when we went in for the c-section and they did the ultra sound that he would be head down. Well, it didn't work that way. He was VERY breech. He knew how he wanted to enter this world and he knew how it owuld be safest for both of us. I learned an AMAZING amount from that experience. So that's my c-section experience in a nutshell (a very big nutshell).
